Dancinglyla: After exam letters and postcard swap!

Clockwise: Date Stamper, Seal wax, Letter set from Daiso,
Postcards, Stickers from The Paper Stone, Coins and Stamps.

This was one of the massive swap I did for the month of November. There were stamp, coins, stickers and postcards all in one letter. I enjoyed putting this together because all of them are my favourite. This includes a Xmas Card which I've made.

Scissors is from The Paper Stone

I really could not get over this beautiful stamps. I absolutely love this 1st local stamp. A great follower from Instagram decided that we should swap out our favourite stamps and here it is!

This might be the first time that I am using all the five stamps in one postcard.

And lastly, I still enjoy putting things together in my Minnie Mouse envelope. Here's the second one which I've made today.

Stickers are from The Paper Stone
I can't wait for more swaps to be out. :)

Kissmas Gifts Idea!

An individually wrapped gifts for my team during last year's Xmas. It was actually belated because I was on a vacation (which explains the Bali keychain). Now, I could not remember how many gifts I had wrapped because I included a few for friends and ex-team manager who is now working in a different department. What I can say is that I enjoy wrapping!

  • Tags with initials: Tags were from ArtFriend and using Alphabet Stamps.
  • Keychain from Bali
  • Candy Cane (Because I love mints and it was Xmas!)
  • Toblerone (Because I love chocolate - PS: Chocolate + Mint goes really well!)
  • Silver and Pink Wrapping paper with roses (took it from my mom's wrapping paper collection)
Was so happy how each of them turn out. :)

If anyone would like me to work on individual wrap gifts for this Xmas (I like to say Kissmas!) or any occasion, let me know! You can email me at dancinglyla@gmail.com. Would be really happy to do it. :)

Can't wait to start on gifts for this year! :)

Minnie Mouse Envelope

Didn't plan on this one but it turned out to be a Minnie Mouse theme envelope. I took a big portion of a red construction paper and fold my envelope (actually, I was wrapping my contents in the letter- no specific dimension or how to fold) and pasted wide white circle stickers.

The combination reminded me of Minnie Mouse!

Here, you can take a look at my Handmade Mickey Mouse Card. :)

How's your November?

I came across this rubber stamp long time ago but decided to use it this time round for my postcards exchange.

It was also the month of November or "Movember" and I thought it was really cute to put another rubber stamp with "I heart moustache".

  • "Thank You Very Much" moustache rubber stamps were from PaperMarket
  • "I Heart Moustache" rubber stamp were probably from Action City (if I am not wrong)
It has been so long since I did postcard exchange because of my school and work. Despite being so busy back at work, I am fortunate to have this hobby because writing to someone makes me so happy. :)

Cheers! December's coming and I am so excited for the festive season! :)

Kissmas Cards!

Hello!

I am in love with white, silver and gold on black and decided to make a DIY kissmas card for this Christmas.

This is how the card looks like
And on the inside

The things that I am using for this card is:
  1. Alphabet rubber stamp set (Upper letters) for the word "XMAS" or "KISSMAS"
  2. Silver stamp pad
  3. Sharpie's silver marker for the word "Merry"
  4. Metallic pink marker
  5. Silver and Gold pens
  6. The Paper Stone's Stickers for Hannah's card
  7. Silver stars stickers from a bookshop
  8. Black A4 paper
It was fun making them and I really like how the overall look. The card is actually folded in three so that I would be able to use sealwax to secure it. Can't wait to deliver it to Hannah as well as giving out to those who celebrates Xmas.

x, Z.

Wedding Guestbook, Green Envelopes and Greeting Cards.

Hari Raya
Envelopes for 'Green Packet'

Folded my own Raya Green packets this year using The Paper Stone's wrapping paper. Decorated it with a circle label and wrote my own "Selamat Hari Raya" for a festive touch.

Greeting Cards

I thought of taking the opportunity to send out several greeting cards to not only some of my Muslim penpals, but my siblings and relatives as well. It was fun making them from scratch. I even folded the black envelope and use the white/silver pen and stampers to write the addresses.

Here comes the bride...!

Was given a great opportunity to make a friend's wedding guestbook. I was pretty nervous from the start but I ended up having so much fun! I made endless rounds and fun trips to ArtFriend and Paper Market to get the craft materials.

Wooden alphabet decorative from ArtFriend, Stickers from ArtFriend/Paper Market
and Cut-out labels (31 August 2013) made by my cousin.

Was so happy that my cousin help to make the cut-out labels for this guestbook. Everything looked the way I wanted it to be and I really hope that my friend would love it. I've send it to Perth (one risky investment but I really hope and trust the Airmail). We shall see her thoughts about it once she receives it.

More Cut-out labels from my cousin.
XOXO Wooden Alphabet with silver ink;
Pocket Pages from ArtFriend (newfound love)

Printed out Scrabble Tiles - "Love" and "Just Married"
Really enjoyed myself doing this. I am looking forward to do more after seeing lots of inspirations (from Instagrams, blogs, etc).

I'm hoping to do:
- Birthday guestbook
- Wedding guestbook
- Baby Shower guestbook
- More Green Envelopes

You can email me at checherryymail@gmail.com for job/crafting opportunity. Thank you! :)

White/Silver on Black

Recently, I have been trying to change the way I create/decorate my letters. I really like the way the words and names turns out on black paper with silver/white ink.

Here I use:
- Alphabet Stamps (MONOYONO, Vivo City Singapore)
- Ink It Up Stamp Pad in Silver (Artfriend, Buona Vista Singapore)
to write stamp the name (& country) and also
- Uniball Signo in White (Times Bookstore, Jcube Singapore)
to write the mailing address.

An "Air Mail" stamper was added into my collection recently. I love the vintage features in it and that it is round. I bought these at Du Yi Bookstore, West Mall Bukit Batok Singapore.

P.S These photos are from my Instagram as well (@dancinglyla) x

Addicted to letter writing!

Smiley World pen from ArtFriend
I am addicted! I have been writing and writing and I can't seem to stop doing it. I am so thankful to found and made some new friends who does more than just exchanging of postcards. We "mentally swap" ideas and seek ways to improve our crafts.

One particular week, I wrote and send out 22 postcards! It was crazy!

I currently love to make my own envelopes and letters. Ever since I learn how to fold an envelope, I have been folding away. I cut out some heavyweight papers to write and fit inside the envelopes.

Dancing Lyla

Hello Everyone! :)

I am finally done with my final examination for this semester! *Yay!*

Right after my exam paper, I applied for 'My Mail Box' at the Post Office hoping that it would be easier for me to send and receive postcards/letters. This week, I went crazy deciding a good name for a new Instagram account that will be a craft/snail mail related. It went from 'Checherryymail' (then I became super annoyed because I have accidentally typed the wrong email which led to me being unable to trace back the password I've typed. Silly me) to 'Forlyla' and became 'Dancing Lyla'

There are few reasons why 'Dancing Lyla' came about (Instagram: @dancinglyla) but I will go to that when the time comes!

I went shopping for more postcards the other day and got myself the 'Via Air Mail' stamper.

'Via Air Mail' stamper $5 at Du Yi Bookshop, West Mall, Singapore
Saw this pretty wrapping paper and turn it to envelopes! I am really happy that I am making my own envelopes! (Got to buy more!) I also made small envelopes meant for Hari Raya festival as green packets.

British themed wrapping paper 50cents at Yew Tee Bookshop, Singapore
While I was getting extremely crafty today, I made two canvas art! This was something I wanted to do for a long time and was glad that I finally did it.

My nephew's birthday gift is his hand print!

Canvas was from Plaza Singapura's Spotlight

I am going to get my room reorganize later today!

Have an amazing May! x

Snapple Bottles

I am using Snapple bottle to keep my change. I have always wanted a variety to put aside e.g. Travel money, Hobby money (to spend on crafts), but since I had only two bottles with me, I made "Save" and "Donate" bottles.

I took the balance of the scrapbook paper material to cover up the bottle and using the Alphabet Foam Stickers (from Artfriend, Singapore) to label.

Marvelous March!

I am using Classic Seal Set from ArtFriend.

It has been awhile since I have sent out some snail mail. I decided to do it upon discovering moreloveletters.com. So I sent it to my dearest cousins whose birthday falls in March. I am glad that they were delighted to receive it.

Images are from my cousins and friend.

I also made new friends on Instagram after learning that a group of them are doing letters and postcards exchange. I jump into the bandwagon right away! I collected stamps when I was young and am starting to do more of it at this age! It is never too late to pick up an old hobby right?

Wait A Minute..

Hi Everyone!

I totally forgot about this blog existence for almost 7months! I went on and made a new blog but was a little frustrated with their settings. So I decided maybe I should go back to blogger and I found this baby!

I changed the URL to link together with my Instagram and Twitter (both of which are private).

I will be transferring most of what I posted up at “the-new-blog-now-gone-cause-I-am-back-here”. I hope there was not too much of updates but I am very happy to be back here!
New blog entries coming soon!
